8/8 Is Not Just a Date—It’s a Portal. Here’s How to Make Magic with It
The Lion’s Gate is a potent time of initiation, spiritual magic, and deep transformation. It begins when the Sun enters the constellation of Leo in late July (this year, July 23) and peaks on 8/8—one of the most powerful energetic days of the year. The effects of this celestial alignment can be felt until August 12.
What makes this time so significant? Our spiritual sun, the star Sirius—25 times brighter than our own sun—rises on the eastern horizon. In ancient Egypt, the heliacal rising of Sirius marked the annual flooding of the Nile River, ushering in the new year and bringing promises of abundance, renewal, and fertility. This wasn’t just about the land—it was also a time of inner rebirth.
Closely tied to the Egyptian agricultural cycle, this astrological period was believed to reflect the sacred bond between the Sphinx and the constellation Leo. As Sirius, the star of the goddess Isis, rose in the dawn sky and Orion’s Belt aligned with the Great Pyramids of Giza, the ancients saw this as a cosmic symphony between heaven and Earth. This alignment opens what many mystics call an interdimensional portal—one of divine manifestation, soul awakening, and infinite potential.
The most exalted day of this cycle is August 8. In numerology, the number 8 represents infinity, the balance between spirit and matter, abundance, and expanded consciousness. This is an especially powerful time to get crystal clear on your intentions and become aware of where you’re placing your energy and attention.
During this portal, I personally love to work with my guide, Isis—the great Egyptian goddess of transformation. It was through her divine love and grace that she transmuted Osiris into a fully resurrected being. She empowered him to become more than he was before. Isis, the Divine Mother of alchemy, healing, magic, and manifestation, will support your transformation too—if you invite her in.

Designate a sacred space in your home to honor her presence.
Symbols to include: wings, a throne, an ankh, the star of Sirius, feathers, or a lotus flower.
Offerings: rose petals, myrrh, honey, water, milk, or candles in gold, blue, or white.
Crystals: lapis lazuli, moonstone, selenite, or obsidian.
2. Lion’s Gate Activation Meditation with Isis
Visualize golden light from Sirius streaming through your crown chakra. Call in Isis—see her wrapping you in her protective wings, offering divine guidance and soul-level healing. Ask her to activate your inner magic, deepen your clarity, and amplify your spiritual strength.
3. Invocation or Prayer to Isis
Speak this aloud during your practice:
“Isis, Great Mother of Magic and Light, I call upon your divine presence.
Wrap me in your wings of protection and love.
Help me awaken to my truth and purpose,
And walk the path of sovereignty and healing.”
4. Sacred Journaling & Channeling
Use this time to receive guidance through writing or art.
Journal with this prompt: “What is Isis guiding me to release—and who am I becoming?”
Try automatic writing: take three deep breaths, release your analytical mind, and let the intuitive side flow. You may be surprised by the messages and insights that come through.
5. Water Ritual: Honoring Isis as Goddess of the Nile
Fill a jar with water and place it in the sunlight as Sirius rises (early morning is ideal).
Speak your intentions into the water—words of gratitude, hope, or healing.
Use the water to anoint yourself or pour it into the Earth as a sacred offering.
6. Past-Life or Soul Lineage Meditation
The Lion’s Gate opens a doorway to cosmic memory.
Drop into meditation and ask Isis to show you a past life—perhaps in Egypt or Lemuria.
